Having uninstalled PostgreSQL with brew uninstall postgresql and uninstalled/removed Postgres.app I re-installed Postgresql.app. as well as installing and uninstalling Posetgres.app per /documentation/install.html & /documentation/remove.I've been having some difficulty getting up and running with PostgreSQL.

OF NOTE: some of these may have been installed with a Homebrew - at one point I installed and uninstalled postgreSQL with Homebrew Code: Select all brew install postgres & Code: Select all brew uninstall postgres. * again, odd that this was not removed by the Resolve 12.5.4 uninstaller System/Library/DirectoryServices/DefaultLocalDB/Default/groups/Ĭom.Ĭom.

FWIW, the pgAdmin3.app is in this directory as well. Odd that the Resolve uninstaller does not uninstall pgAdmin and associated PostgreSQL components.

These /Library/PostgreSQL/ folders/files have a creation date the same as my download of the Installer, so I am assuming Resolve installed them. Gotcha - that's good to know, I am fairly new to the complexities of DB Admin'ing. You can automate backups and truly delete the project databases from the server rather than un-link it from your clients as a few items. to get Activity Monitor to display the actual files in addition to selecting "All Processes")Īlexoreman wrote:PGADMIN is just the GUI for manipulating the postgresSQL DB outside of Resolve if you want to be brave. This post seems to have been written for postgres 8.4 and I have 9.5 which appears to have been installed with Resolve 12.5.4 and not uninstalled when using the Resolve uninstaller.Īccording to my Activity Monitor there are active postgres tasks from /Library/PostgreSQL/9.5 Note: it took: Code: Select all sudo "/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor.app/Contents/MacOS/Activity Monitor". ?Īlso, per this thread I see that PostgreSQL and pgAdmin3 can be removed.

Per this thread it seems like DISK databse is the way for me, but will simply removing PostgrSQL invoke DISK database? I don't see how to manually set up DISK vs. I guess I am mainly wondering if removing PostgreSQL and pgAdmin3 will make Resolve unusable? As there is the option for DISK database I am just assuming that Resolve does not require postgreSQL for basic I/O? The Resolve install of PostgreSQL and pgAdmin3 are interfering with some work I am trying to do w/a Ruby on Rails development project. I'm just using Resolve (the freeware, not Studio) on a standalone AirBook lappy (OSX Sierra, mid-2012 i7) and don't need robust project database tracking/mgmt or network access. You can still create and restore Databases though. Alexoreman wrote:We use remote postgreSQL databases here but without postgreSQL packages installed on our client Resolves you can not perform actions with the DB like Backups, Optimizing ETC.
